Valiant Lady's Sept. 27 New York Arrival Is Delayed

Virgin changed disembarkation, embarkation, sailaway, and the Bermuda visit after a nor'easter closed the Port of New York.

What affected Sailors need to know
  • Ship arrival: Virgin expects Valiant Lady to dock in New York around 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27.
  • Disembarkation: the earliest expected time is around 5 p.m., after customs and immigration clearance.
  • Embarkation: boarding runs 8 p.m.-midnight Sunday, with another window from 7-10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28.
  • Sailaway: Virgin plans to depart around noon Monday.
  • Bermuda: the next voyage will visit from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on one day instead of staying overnight.

Virgin Voyages says a nor'easter forced the Port of New York to close and placed ships ahead of Valiant Lady in the reopening queue. The ship has approval to dock around 4 p.m. Sept. 27, but Virgin presents each time as an expectation rather than a guarantee.

For Sailors ending the current voyage, Virgin says luggage that needs assistance should go outside cabins by 10 a.m. Sunday. Sailors should select a disembarkation slot in the app by 8 p.m. Saturday and review onward travel directly with their airline or travel operator. Airport transfers booked in the app will adjust automatically; other New York Shore Things will be canceled and refunded to the Sailor folio.

For the next voyage, each original terminal-arrival slot moves six hours and 30 minutes later. Virgin asks Sailors to check the app for the exact new time and not arrive early. Once onboard, Sailors cannot disembark again before sailaway. Existing first-night dinner reservations have been canceled, and selected restaurants plus The Galley will operate with limited, first-come service.

Bermuda change

Virgin now plans a 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Bermuda call instead of an overnight. Shore Things booked for the original first day will be canceled and returned as refundable Sailor Loot; second-day tours remain scheduled.

Compensation for the next voyage

Virgin says every person on the affected voyage will receive $200 in non-refundable Sailor Loot plus a $200 Future Voyage Credit toward a later sailing.
