- Status: Virgin has confirmed a full port reroute for Brilliant Lady's October 17-24 voyage.
- New ports: San Francisco October 19, San Diego October 21, and Ensenada October 22.
- Removed ports: Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, and Puerto Vallarta are no longer on the sailing.
- Shore Things: Virgin-booked excursions in removed ports receive automatic full refunds to the onboard folio.
Virgin Voyages confirmed the route change on October 16 after reviewing Hurricane Trudy's forecast with National Hurricane Center guidance. Virgin says sailing south would put Brilliant Lady on the stronger side of the storm, so the ship will stay on a West Coast route.
Brilliant Lady still departs Los Angeles at 5 p.m. October 17 and returns at 6:30 a.m. October 24. The replacement calls are San Francisco from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. on October 19, San Diego from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on October 21, and Ensenada from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on October 22, with sea days October 18, 20, and 23.
Virgin-booked Shore Things in the removed ports will be refunded automatically to the onboard folio. Independently booked tours require contacting the third-party operator. New-port Shore Things will become available in the Virgin Voyages app once Sailors are aboard, and Virgin warns that the app may continue showing the original route before sailaway.
Virgin recommends long pants, long sleeves, and a jacket because San Francisco and the California coast will be cooler than the Mexican Riviera. This is a reroute, not a cancellation: Virgin says the ship and its onboard programming remain ready for the October 17 voyage.
The October 16 advisory confirms the replacement itinerary and remains the controlling source for any later timing or Shore Thing change.
