What Universal announced
Universal Orlando says Fat One's Hot Dogs & Italian Ice will officially open at Universal CityWalk on September 19. The restaurant was founded by *NSYNC member Joey Fatone and his manager, Joe Mulvihill, and both are scheduled to welcome the first guests.
Universal lists nine gourmet hot dogs on the menu. The examples in its release are The Fat One, a footlong topped with roasted pork, pepperoni, chili beans, cheddar cheese sauce, red onion sauce, pop fries and chives; The Brazilian, made with grilled linguica sausage; and the Korean-inspired Dirty K-Pop Dog. Italian ice and specialty beers round out the announced lineup.
How the opening-day giveaway works
The first 100 guests receive a wristband for one free hot dog served by Joey Fatone. Universal encourages people who want to attend to arrive at Fat One's at 10 a.m. and says space is limited and first come, first served.
The release says Joey Fatone will remain for photos for a limited time, but it does not give an end time or guarantee that every arriving guest will receive a wristband or photo. Treat 10 a.m. as Universal's arrival guidance, not a promise that the giveaway will still be available then.
What this changes for a September 19 visit
Opening-day demand may make this a busier-than-normal CityWalk stop. Travelers focused on the giveaway should allow time before 10 a.m. and make a backup dining plan in case the limited wristbands are gone.
September 19 also carries Toothsome's 10th-anniversary celebration from 3-6 p.m. at CityWalk. That makes it possible to plan both special events on the same day, but neither official announcement promises capacity or availability. Read Fruglar's Toothsome event guide for its separate menu and activity details.
If this stop is part of a larger trip, use Fruglar's Universal price calculator to compare park tickets, hotels and extras separately. Universal did not announce a park-ticket, hotel or vacation-package price change with this restaurant opening.
Fine print and verification
Fruglar verified the September 19 opening, 10 a.m. arrival guidance, first-100-guests wristband offer and announced menu categories against Universal Orlando's official media release. Universal did not publish regular menu prices, a general operating schedule, an event end time, parking terms or a separate-admission requirement in that release. Details and availability can change.
