VV calls it "Always Included." No loyalty tier to unlock it, no upgrade to purchase. It's the same for every sailor on every ship, regardless of what they paid.
What's always included โ no exceptions
Every restaurant on the ship, including specialty venues, has no cover charge. The Wake, Extra Virgin, Razzle Dazzle, Gunbae, Pink Agave โ all included. No per-night fees, no tasting menu surcharges.
Every group fitness class โ yoga, HIIT, cycling, barre โ is included. Traditional cruise lines charge $15โ$30 per class. On VV, it's all in.
Sailing-grade Wi-Fi for everyone, included. No tiers, no daily charge, no package to buy. It's not fiber, but it's enough for streaming, video calls, and staying connected.
All shows, performances, and events are included. From intimate live music to full theatrical productions, there's no reserved seating tier and no ticket to purchase.
Every sailing is adults-only (18+). No water slide queues, no kids in the hot tubs, no activity clash between family programming and adult entertainment. Included by design.
No formal nights, no "smart casual" enforcement. Come as you are. This isn't an amenity you pay for โ it's a philosophy baked into the experience.
What's NOT included โ the honest list
-
โ
Alcohol & Bar Tab: VV doesn't include an alcohol package. Drinks are priced individually at the bar. If you drink heavily, this adds up quickly. The Bar Tab package (pre-purchased drink credits) is available as an add-on but isn't included in the base fare.
-
โ
Gratuities (~$20/night): VV charges a daily "Sailor Loot" gratuity โ roughly $20 per cabin per night, added at checkout. It's not hidden, but it's not built into the advertised fare. For a 7-night sailing, that's ~$140 extra.
-
โ
Shore Excursions: Shore excursions and port activities are not included. VV sells them through their Sailor app, but you can also book independently โ which is often cheaper.
-
โ
Spa Treatments: The Redemption Spa offers treatments at a premium. Access to the thermal suite and sauna areas is also a paid add-on. Some cabins (RockStar suites) include spa access; standard fares do not.
-
โ
Specialty Personal Training: Group fitness is included; private training sessions with a coach are not and are booked at an additional charge.
How this compares to traditional cruise lines
| What you want | Traditional Cruise | Virgin Voyages |
|---|---|---|
| Specialty dining | $30โ$60/night extra | Included |
| Wi-Fi | $20โ$35/day extra | Included |
| Group fitness classes | $15โ$30/class extra | Included |
| Entertainment shows | Usually included | Included |
| Gratuities | $18โ$25/person/night | ~$20/cabin/night |
| Alcohol | Drinks + package extra | Drinks extra (Bar Tab optional) |
๐ฌ The honest take
When you do the full math โ specialty dining, Wi-Fi, and fitness added into a traditional cruise โ Virgin Voyages' "higher" advertised fares often come out cheaper all-in. The model isn't perfect (the gratuity add-on is a quirk, and no alcohol inclusion will matter to some people), but for travelers who actually use the dining and fitness amenities, VV's Always Included approach changes the equation significantly. You know what you're paying upfront. That matters.
