Where do Lock It In and suites fit?
Lock It In is a guarantee fare: Virgin assigns the exact cabin later and cabin changes are not allowed. It is not a fourth upgrade level of Base/Essential/Premium. Standard-cabin dining opens 15 days before sailing. Read the full tradeoff guide.
RockStar and Mega RockStar have separate benefits. Dining opens 120 days before sailing, including suite Lock It In bookings. Do not apply standard-cabin change rules or drink-credit values to suites.
What about refunds and Wi-Fi?
Cancellation and change rights depend on the exact fare, timing, booking market and contract. Base and Lock It In are restrictive, non-refundable choices under the published fare rules. Essential and Premium are not blanket promises of cash refunds or free changes.
Wi-Fi capability differs by fare. Check the current quote for Basic, Classic or Premium Wi-Fi, device limits and any existing loyalty benefits. Don't pay twice for something you already receive.
Is Premium worth the extra fare?
Subtract only benefits you'll use. Then decide whether the remaining price is worth the flexibility, dining window and Wi-Fi difference.

A $250 upgrade can still cost you $150 more.
Two Sailors, five nights. Assume matching Essential and Premium quotes of $2,400 and $2,650, both including the same taxes. The Premium quote includes $150 Bar Tab, but you expect only $100 of eligible drinks.
- Essential: $2,400 fare + $200 prepaid gratuities + $100 drinks
- $2,700
- Premium: $2,650 fare + $200 gratuities + $100 drinks − $100 usable Bar Tab
- $2,850
Premium costs $150 more in this example. Would you pay that for its other benefits? If not, keep Essential. The remaining $50 of unused Bar Tab is not cash back.
The $200 gratuity assumption is $20 × 2 Sailors × 5 nights. Virgin's published prepaid rate was checked September 14, 2026; prepaid gratuities are non-refundable. Add flights, transfers and other shared costs separately. This example assumes no other credits or add-ons.

Compare your quotes in three steps
- Match the booking. Same ship, dates, guests, cabin category, currency and promotion assumptions. Enter the whole-cabin fare, not a per-person or per-night headline.
- Add costs once. Taxes, service gratuities, expected paid drinks and other extras. Don't add taxes again if the quotes already include them.
- Compare cost and fit. The calculator limits Bar Tab value to expected drink spending. Review flexibility and benefits alongside the total.
