What Universal announced
Universal Orlando officially announced Universal Horror Make-Up Show featuring Blumhouse on October 9, 2026. Universal says the live show will explore how Hollywood special-effects artists have frightened moviegoers for more than a century, moving from Universal's classic monsters to modern Blumhouse horror.
The announcement confirms the Blumhouse name and the broad creative direction. It does not name any specific Blumhouse film, character, scene or practical-effects demonstration, so Fruglar is not treating familiar franchises as part of the show until Universal publishes them.
When does the Blumhouse show open?
Universal has not announced an exact opening date. Its current park-hours and closure calendar lists Universal Orlando's Horror Make-Up Show closed from May 12 through “Winter 2026.” That wording is a broad planning window, not a guaranteed day.
If the show is important to your trip, do not reserve itinerary time for it until Universal adds a reopening date and showtimes to the live calendar or app. Universal's own announcement says additional details are coming soon.
What this means for trip planning
The announcement gives late-2026 visitors a better sense of what will replace the temporarily closed version, but it does not yet make the show schedulable. Keep another indoor attraction or live show in the plan until operating details appear.
Universal's Hollywood land page still identifies the venue as a live horror-makeup and special-effects experience. The new announcement supports continuity in that core theme, but Universal has not yet confirmed which parts of the previous production, comedy format, audience participation or venue displays will remain.
Use the free Universal Hackulator to compare ticket, pass, hotel and Express choices around the rest of the trip. This announcement does not publish a new ticket price, paid add-on or separate-admission requirement.
Fine print and verification
Fruglar verified the title and description against Universal Orlando Resort's official LinkedIn announcement, published October 9, 2026 at 23:16 UTC. Fruglar separately checked Universal's live park-hours calendar on October 10; it still lists the attraction closed through “Winter 2026.” Universal has not published an exact reopening date, a film or character lineup, a daily schedule, a runtime or revised access details for the new show.
